Hi, Dr. Vietta O’Bryant! Welcome Aboard!

Viettacircle

Last month, we expanded our education advising team! (And stay tuned, we’re expanding a little more here in the next few weeks with some help from Latino Memphis!)

Dr. Vietta O’Bryant is a counselor by day with Shelby County Schools, so she’ll be working with our adult students on the weekends. It’ll be a bit of a change-up for her, because during the day, she works with young elementary school students. Talk about a change of pace! She was drawn to the GM advising position after she had begun helping her young students’ parents with their education questions. She says, “I want to see individuals succeed in life and I want them to feel good about it and in doing that whatever I can do to help pave the way for them I am willing to go the extra mile. I just enjoy people and helping people accomplish their goals.”

Dr. O’Bryant holds a BA in Psychology from the Mississippi University for Women, an MS in Guidance and Counseling from the University of West Alabama, and an Ed. D. in Counseling and Psychology from Argosy University. She joined Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. as an undergrad and remains involved as an alum. She also keeps busy as an active member at Golden Gate Cathedral.

When not helping students, she enjoys going to the movies and traveling. She also says she loves entertaining her friends, so we’re excited that her students will have a fun and personable advisor to help them on their journey as future graduates. Sports fans, rejoice! She’s also a Grizz fan.

Welcome to the team, Dr. O’Bryant! And congratulations are certainly in order on your beautiful wedding last weekend!
